INSPIRING PAINTERS AND ARTISTS
Asilah, a city nestling at the edge of the ocean shore. It doesn ́t take long to see why city has been, and still is, a meeting place and source of inspiration for painters and artists.
Its beautiful, faultless medina is protected by an ochre-coloured Portuguese rampart and its white alleys are decorated with Breathtaking murals. Numerous art galleries and stores also give testimony to the artistic heritage and value of Asilah. A wide variety of activities related to painting, music and theatre have given the city a respectable reputation as a place of cultural interest that attracts travellers from all over the world. The soft sands of the endless, wide beaches draw ones gaze out to the point on the horizon where sky and ocean converge...where tranquillity and calm become the centre of attention.
The architecture of Assilah depicts a past of richness; the Muslim cemetery and the Koranic school coexist peacefully with a few buildings that still stand from the age of the Spanish Protectorate. The locals are welcoming and friendly...they mingle with the tourists as well as with the considerable number of foreigners that have made this city their home... something that becomes perfectly comprehensible to the traveller as the sun sets every evening and a brilliant pallet of colours tints the city, and their hearts.
